Richard Wingrove has been named the new chief financial officer and company secretary of destra Corporation (ASX:DES) (destra). Reporting to destra's CEO, Domenic Carosa, Wingrove brings a depth of finance leadership experience across a range of industries and organisations and a technical competence built on his initial 7 years with Coopers & Lybrand [now PricewaterhouseCoopers].
After a handover period, Wingrove begins his tenure on 28 November 2005, replacing Todd Richards. Richards leaves destra after more than three years with the company where he oversaw growth in operating revenues exceeding 70 per cent year on year.
“Todd has been instrumental in the growth and financial performance of destra. Though saddened by his departure, we understand his desire to apply his skills in a new venture,” said Carosa.
The Company’s Chairman, Carl Olsen, added, “Through Todd’s efforts and achievements, today destra is providing increased value to shareholders and a clear, profitable business path.”
As destra’s primary financial executive, Wingrove will be responsible for driving the continued improvement of destra’s financial performance, assessing new business opportunities, strengthening risk management and internal controls and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and corporate governance best practice recommendations.
"I am very pleased that a professional of Wingrove’s calibre is joining our team," said Carosa.
"His strong analytical background and proven track record in overseeing strategic planning and integration activities are just the skills needed to build on our corporate strengths."
Wingrove comes to destra from the UK based role of Finance Director, DePuy International (a Johnson & Johnson company). In this and other roles at Johnson & Johnson, Wingrove has been an active participant in a range of initiatives supporting the achievement of financial targets, provided ongoing advice and counsel to senior management and overseen the development of internal controls and finance systems. He has also spent a total of five years in the SME telecommunications and technology sector.
"Richard Wingrove’s track record in driving commercial success ensures destra’s continued financial strength. He has the trust and confidence of our Board of Directors and financial advisors," concluded Olsen.
Wingrove has a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Business and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
