destra signs global music digital distribution deal

11 July 2005

Carosa concluded, “destra is tireless in identifying new and exciting sales avenues for the independent artists we represent on MP3.com.au. We feel that the D3 platform allows the independent artists to focus on what they should be focusing on, which is making great music, while allowing us to offer them an integrated distribution solution.”

MELBOURNE – 11 July, 2005 – destra Corporation Limited (ASX:DES) division, MP3.com.au, has signed an exclusive agreement with the Independent Online Distribution Alliance (IODA).

IODA is a global digital music aggregator which provides independent content to Apple iTunes, Napster, Coke Music, MSN Music, Yahoo!, Sony Connect, BigPond Music, Ninemsn, and destraMusic partners including Sanity.com.au, Triple J, ChaosMusic.com, Harvey Norman, JB HIFI and Strathfield.

“This deal allows MP3.com.au’s over 16,000 artists to distribute their music via the IODA global network, giving them access to some of the largest digital music sites in the world including Apple iTunes” said Domenic Carosa, destra Corporation CEO.

Targeted exclusively towards independent labels and artists, IODA offers a one-stop online distribution avenue. In representing content from hundreds of independent rightsholders (who collectively represent over 20% of the global music market - http://www.iodalliance.com), IODA is able to leverage retailers for margins and promotional space that would otherwise be controlled by major labels.

MP3.com.au artists will have access to IODA’s proprietary Rightsholder Dashboard management tools via its new D3 (D cubed) digital distribution technology platform. D3 provides an easy, fast, and low cost solution for music distributors to offer comprehensive digital services to their label clients. IODA takes care of all licensing, encoding and delivery, and accounting functions on behalf of the distributor and provides promotion and marketing support as well.

“The D3 solution enables MP3.com.au to offer a full-service digital distribution solution to its artists without incurring significant overhead or investment,” said IODA founder and CEO, Kevin Arnold. “This partnership represents another great way IODA’s solution helps connect the independent music world with its fans.”
