Joe Di Santo, General Manager of Hitwise Asia Pacific said, “During the course of the year, Hitwise found that MP3.com.au was consistently the number one Australian based website in the Entertainment – Multimedia category month on month. This great achievement is a success story of an Australian music download business doing big things in a space which is highly competitive and becoming increasingly popular rapidly."
MP3.com.au, a division of destra Media, one of the business arms of destra Corporation Limited (ASX: DES) has won the prestigious Hitwise Online Performance Award in the 'Entertainment - Multimedia' category.
Simon Crean, destra Media’s Strategy Development Manager, received the award at the Hitwise Online Performance Awards evening held last night at Sydney’s Luna Park attended by the country’s top online marketers.
“The awards recognise excellence in online performance and acknowledge that our MP3.com.au website was the most popular website in the 'Entertainment - Multimedia' category among internet users in 2005,” said Crean.
The Hitwise Online Performance Awards celebrates the #1 websites in over 160 industries, recognising excellence in online performance through public popularity, based on market share of visits from internet users in a local market.
During the month of December 2005, the MP3.com.au website experienced a 300 per cent increase in traffic and achieved over 2.5 million downloads and streams. Today, with online advertising expenditure higher than radio and magazine advertising budgets, sites such as destra’s MP3.com.au are enjoying growing revenue streams.
Joe Di Santo, General Manager of Hitwise Asia Pacific said, “During the course of the year, Hitwise found that MP3.com.au was consistently the number one Australian based website in the Entertainment – Multimedia category month on month. This great achievement is a success story of an Australian music download business doing big things in a space which is highly competitive and becoming increasingly popular rapidly. Gone are the days where music downloads appeal only to the young early-adopting, tech savvy individual. And this award cements the fact that MP3.com.au is keeping abreast of the trends. Being able to indirectly compete with bricks and mortar music retailers via a pure player website is also a wonderful achievement.”
destra Media and 3 mobile recently launched the world’s first mobile subscription based digital music download service. The $3.00 per month subscription service allows 3 mobile customers to download as many tracks as they want from MP3.com.au’s extensive catalogue of independent artist songs as often as they want each month.
