destra Appoints Media, Entertainment & Advertising Senior Managers
19 September, Melbourne; Australia’s largest independent digital media and entertainment company, destra Corporation Limited (ASX:DES) today announced three senior staff appointments as part of a restructure of its entertainment, media and advertising divisions.
Destra announced the following appointments, which are to commence immediately:
- Perry Smith, CEO, destra Media (incorporating Brand New Media)
- Ken Outch, CEO, destra Entertainment - Music & Digital Media
- Phil Maddison, CEO, destra Entertainment – Vision & Logistics
Commenting on the restructure, destra Group CEO Domenic Carosa said:

Our recent annual results which reported 07 pro-forma revenues of over $100m with an EBITDA of over $10m reinforce the fact that we are on target with our strategic plan to acquire and generate content, build online communities around content and monetise by selling content and advertising. Perry Smith, CEO, destra Media (incorporating Brand New Media)
Perry Smith commenced his media career in 1987 with Capital Television Canberra, whilst playing professional Rugby League for the Canberra Raiders. Perry joined Media Sales Network as part of its management team in 1991, and in 1992 founded Australian Media & Sport (AM&S), a diversified media sales and sports marketing company achieving annual revenues in excess of $15 million.
AM&S was sold to Australia’s largest independent media sales and marketing company, Australian Media Holdings in 1996. In 2002, Perry founded Brand New Media, now Australia’s leading integrated media and communications company with interests in media representation, production and branded content development, publishing, event management and marketing. During his 20-year media career, Perry has developed and built a reputation for creating innovative, profitable media companies.
Ken Outch, CEO, destra Entertainment – Music & Digital
Ken Outch has worked in the Australian music industry for over 20 years. Prior to joining destra, Ken held senior executive positions within the entertainment sector, including General Manager for BMG, Director of Marketing Sony - Columbia and General Manager of Sanity. Whilst working at Sanity, Ken was involved in launching Australia’s first legal music download site, implementing P.O.S across 300 stores and establishing Music Point. Ken has overseen the acquisition of five new companies under the destra Entertainment business. Ken is a current board member of the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) and holds a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration.
Phil Maddison, CEO destra Entertainment - Vision
Phil commenced his career in retailing, as a buyer for David Jones in South Australia. With his understanding of consumer trends and demand he moved into entertainment content distribution, at Electronic Arts, where he progressed from senior sales and marketing roles to the position of General Manager and Director.
Phil’s depth of experience and understanding in content sales and distribution took him to Magna Pacific in 2001. Phil has held the position of CEO since 2004. Phil holds a Masters of Business Administration and brings to destra over two decades of sales and marketing experience.
